Dressing for the shoulder season
The in-between months ask the most of your layering. Here's how we think about staying comfortable when the weather can't decide.
Farvidden
Spring and autumn are the hardest months to dress for. Mornings start near freezing, afternoons turn mild, and a sudden shower is never far off. The trick isn't a single perfect garment — it's a system you can adjust on the move.
We build for exactly this. A merino base layer manages moisture and holds warmth when you slow down. A light mid layer traps air without bulk. A packable shell rides in your bag until the wind picks up.
Start cooler than feels comfortable; you warm up fast once you're moving. Shed the mid layer before you sweat, add the shell before you chill. Small adjustments, made early, keep you comfortable all day.
